When your tongue rests on it, it causes pressure, discomfort, and warps the piercing itself. This causes migration and tearing of the healing fistula which will result in an abnormal hole. Given time, the migratory pattern will result in the jewelry exiting your lingual frenulum. This leaves behind scar tissue and permanent damage to the area.
