Transverse Tragus

Placement: This piercing goes vertically through the actual tragus. (not to be confused with the sideburn piercing see surface piercings)

Healing Time: 3-9 months or longer

Jewelry: 16g curved barbell

Troubleshooting:. This piecing is highly dependent on the shape of your tragus. This piercing is susceptible to migrating. Just look out for really dry skin and thinning of the tissue in the middle, this could mean your piercing is migrating. Come into Master Pierce if you have any questions on the healing of your piercing.

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Retiring:
Small marks will probably be seen where the piercing entered and exited the skin. If migration occurred, the scarring can be worse. The condition of the piercing and the reason why you removed it will determine the final appearance.

Placement: Usually centered in the middle of the ear through the thicker cartilage.

Healing Time: 3-9 months or longer

Jewelry: 16g-12g bead ring, straight or circular barbell. Looks great with a barbell that has a gem on the front.

Troubleshooting: This piercing can be very susceptible to getting little bumps (hypertrophic scarring). These are formed in many cases because they are being slept on. To help avoid these bumps, try not to sleep on your piercings. Sleeping on a donut shaped pillow with your piercings in the middle can help a lot to avoid the bumps and getting rid of any that form. Taking your piercing out should be a last resort. As usual, if you have questions, it is always best to ask your piercer to help you.

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Retiring: If your healing process was uneventful, the piercing marks are barely noticeable. The condition of the piercing and the reason why you removed it will determine the final appearance.

Transverse Earlobe

Placement: A Transverse Ear Lobe goes through the lobe lengthways instead of directly through it.

Healing Time: 2-10 months

Jewelry: Depending on the shape of your ear lobe and specific desired result, this piercing is done with either a captive bead ring, straight or curved barbell. The gauge of the jewelry used in this piercing is typically 16g-14g.

Troubleshooting: Migration is the most common problem since this is an advanced piercing. It’s important that your piercer use the best size and shape of jewelry to help ensure its success. If you have any problems, it is better to talk to your piercer than to try home remedies that might not work or make it worse.

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Retiring: Since this piercing is in the ear lobe, in most cases there will be little evidence of the old piercing. The condition of the piercing and the reason why you removed the piercing will determine the final appearance.

Placement: Traditionally located in the center of the earlobe, but can be done many different ways.

Healing Time: 4-8weeks

Jewelry: There are virtually unlimited possibilities with this piercing. Professionally pierced ears are performed with a sterile piercing needle that can range from the small 18g size on up to larger sizes like 10g and larger. Many different types of jewelry can be used like Captive Bead Rings, Barbells, Labrets, and Circular Barbells. This piercing is only limited to your imagination.

Troubleshooting:
Ear lobe piercings are usually the easiest and least problematic piercings to have. Occasionally, small bumps may form on the piercing. This can be a keloid or hypertrophic scarring. It is best to come ask our piercer at your local Master Pierce as to which one you have and what you should do to fix it.

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Placement: On the inner ring on the outside of the ear, also called the anti-helix, usually in the center.

Healing Time: 6-12 months or longer

Jewelry: 16g curved barbell or captive bead ring

Troubleshooting: Majority of people do not have the patience or anatomy support to heal this piercing. It’s very thick and covers a lot of tissue causing it a longer healing period.  Also the placement is rounded, which causes the piercing to constantly be under pressure. And finally it’s on the outside of the ear, which tends to go through more traumas than the piercing protected on the inner ear

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Jewelry: 16g – 14g straight barbell for industrials and a 16g – 14g captive bead ring or circular barbell for orbitals.

Since they connect 2 or more piercings, any trauma to one piercing will effect the other(s). This piercing can be very susceptible to getting little bumps (hypertrophic scarring). These are formed in many cases because they are being slept on. To help avoid these bumps, try not to sleep on your piercings. Placement: This is a curved barbell horizontally placed along the mid line of the tongue.

Healing Time: 8-12 weeks

Jewelry: Curved 16g or 14g barbell

Troubleshooting: Oral piercings tend to swell a lot, so to prevent your jewelry from sinking into your skin and causing unnecessary damage your piercer should initially put in longer jewelry. Keep in mind these piercings are very difficult to place and pierce because the flat surface of the tongue is constantly moving. This is also a type of surface piercing, so it’s prone to migration and can easily be ripped. The “snake-eyes” are usually placed near the tip of the tongue, which causes some other issues. Keep in mind these piercings are more susceptible to hitting your teeth when you talk. It’ll also take a longer time to get used to talk with these, so the lisp factor could last a little longer on these.

Aftercare: For inside your mouth, use a non alcoholic mouthwash like Biotene or H2Ocean 2-4 times a day or as needed. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Placement: Can be placed virtually anywhere on the body where there is enough skin to pinch. It is better to put it in places that avoid being hit and don’t move onto any bones.

Healing Time: 1-3 Months

Jewelry: Usually Titanium anchor with Steel interchangeable top. Some shops use stainless steel bases to save money. The titanium bases are better so ask to make sure.

Troubleshooting: Microdermals can be snagged or pulled causing problems so always be cautious with them. As with all surface/advanced piercings, rejections are possible. Daily cleaning is required to help ensure that your piercings stays healthy so clean your piercing every day.

Aftercare: We suggest cleaning your piercings with H2Ocean Piercing Aftercare Spray 2 – 4 times a day. Refer to our Aftercare Instructions for more details.

Retiring: NO YOU DO NOT NEED SURGERY TO GET THIS REMOVED, however do not do it by yourself. It’s possible to pull out your own microdermal, but the scarring will be a lot smaller if you go to a professional piercer to get it removed. All you have to do is go to a professional piercer and it’s a pretty simple procedure. The scarring is minimal if you catch the rejection early or if you get it removed while it’s healthy by a professional.
